The main goal of Woodworking Crafting in The Elder Scrolls Online is to craft staves, bows and shields. For that you need Woodworking specific materials that you can farm in the open world.
What does a Woodworker do?
A Woodworker collects quality wood that can be used to craft elegant Bows, Staves and Shields. Woodworkers use these materials at Woodworking Stations. One of the many mills found in the cities and towns throughout Tamriel. Here they can refine raw resources, improve existing items, research various traits and deconstruct Bows, Staves and Shields they have found throuhout their journey.
Skilled Woodworkers are always seeking to learn new techniques to better their skills at the mill. Finding special crafting books is the key to learning new racial styles, while researching traits allows for the creation of higher quality Bows, Staves and Shields.
How do I recognize Woodworking materials?
Here you can see a character picking up Rough Ruby Ash material. This material is later used to craft Champion Points Level 150-160 Staves, Bows or Shields.
Refine Material Process
By refining a Rough Ruby Ash you will create Sanded Ruby Ash that can be used to create Staves, Bows and Shields.
The following Woodworking Crafting materials currently exist:
Level | Material |
1 - 14 | Maple |
16 - 24 | Oak |
26 - 34 | Beech |
36 - 44 | Hickory |
46 - 50 | Yew |
Champion Points 10 - 30 | Birch |
Champion Points 40 - 60 | Ash |
Champion Points 70-80 | Mahogany |
Champion Points 90 - 140 | Nightwood |
Champion Points 150 - 160 | Ruby Ash |
Creation Process
The creation process works similar, in our example here we want to craft a Ruby Ash Shield with an Impenetrable trait in Dremora style.
You can craft the following items at the Woodworking Crafting station:
- Bow
- Fire Staff
- Lightning Staff
- Frost Staff
- Shield
Please keep in mind that the weapons use weapon traits, whereas the shield uses armor traits.
Deconstruct Process
Improvement Process
You can also improve the quality of your Woodworking Crafting gear. You always start out with the normal white quality. There are a few more:
Quality | Color | Item |
Normal | White | Base |
Fine | Green | Pitch |
Superior | Blue | Turpen |
Epic | Purple | Mastic |
Legendary | Gold | Rosin |
Research ProcessTo be able to craft Bows, Staves or Shields with certain traits, you need to research them first! The first few traits that you research won't take long. However, the further down the list you go, the longer it will take. As a new player it is especially important to research traits all the time.
Trait Research Time:
- 1st Trait: 6 hours
- 2nd Trait: 12 hours
- 3rd Trait: 24 hours
- 4th Trait: 48 hours
- 5th Trait: 96 hours (4 days)
- 6th Trait: 192 hours (8 days)
- 7th Trait: 384 hours (16 days)
- 8th Trait: 768 hours (32 days)
- 9th Trait: 1536 hours (64 days)
Blueprint Furnishings
The Woodworking Table is also used to craft certain furnishings. The tab is called "Blueprints".
Crafting a furnishing functions the same as when you craft an item. You need to make sure to have the right materials, if that is the case you can craft the furnishing. In this example here we crafted a Nord Trunk, Faded. Once we crafted the item we can then place it in our home.
