What Are Customized Actions in ESO?

What Are Customized Actions in ESO?

Customized actions are a new feature in the Elder Scrolls Online, being tested for the first time on the Firesong PTS right now. Here is a first look at what these actions are, and how they work.

What are Customized Actions?

A customized action is a collectible item that you can enable on your character, in much the same way as other cosmetic collectibles such as costumes, hats and pets. When enabled, a custom action will replace the animation and/or effect that your character performs when they carry out a particular action, such as harvesting a resource node or recalling to a wayshrine. In a sense they allow you to build on the Personalities feature to create a custom behavior for your character.

What Options are Available Now?

For now, none of them are available on the Live server, Zenimax haven't yet confirmed exactly when they will be added to the Live servers either, so far they have simply said that they will be available on all platforms "sometime after Update 36 launches".

Currently there are four custom actions available on the PTS. Below is a quick preview of these.

Druidstone Mine

The Druidstone Mine action replaces the pickaxe that your character would normally use to mine metal nodes with a stone hammer, and the sound effect is changed to match this different tool.

Gyrfalcon Gather

The Gyrfalcon Gather action summons a Gyrfalcon bird whenever you harvest a plant. The bird will pick up the plant and pass it to your character.

Stonelore Split

Stonelore Split is an action that replaces your wood cutting animation. The actual animation is similar to the original, but the wood axe will leave a green trail as you are cutting the wood.

Recall of the Galen Wilds

Recall of the Galen Wilds is the fourth and final customized action on the Firesong PTS. It replaces the usual visual effect that plays when you recall to a wayshrine (or another location that one can recall to) with a green one, and your character will also have a subtle green aura around them while they are performing this action.

How will Customized Actions be Obtained?

Zenimax haven't given any details about this yet, so we can only speculate. However it seems likely that they will be similar to other cosmetic collectibles, where a selection of them can be obtained by completing content in-game, while the majority are from the Crown Store and Crown Crates. But again, this is pure speculation for now - we will have to wait and see how it plays out.
